- I would like to be able to work again. I am bipolar and started having major problems holding down jobs, being able to sleep when I went to school (which I was doing since I couldn't find work), but the worst part was that I could not perform in a work environment anymore.

- Love the bit about Street Sense and Hard Spun racing each other. Laura Hillenbrand mention that stallions at breeding farms do that, but I'd never heard of actual horses that really did. You go, boys!

- And our age. Why else did I have to revert to disability when I would rather work. I kept up my skills, can write and design presentations like no one's business, or data bases. My negotiating skills are superb--I am just too damn old.

- Don't knock writing--just be prepared to work and support yourself until you get a break. And writing is work--just ask me. But until the economy crashed I would support myself by going to tech school and advancing skills I already had.

- I'm on disability now due to bipolar, but my writing supplements my income. I have a successful niche and write to it. Writing is a full time job, don't let anyone tell you diffferently. I write young adult-midrange horror and I love it on the days I don't hate it!!!

- My skills? Microsoft office and office management. I've been working since I was 20, but at 60 that puts me way past the age where you would give me a chance. I also have work gaps--yes--because I wasn't able to get hired.

- Creative writing degree--not worthless if you plan to write. Does anyone realize just how poor the writing skills are among college grads and professional.

- One problem since 2001 we have been in and out of recessions and employment for teens is practically non existent. So much for the earning factor. As for grants, a student may have to show need based on parental income--and grants are being cut back at many higher ed institutions.

- I don't want to accuse his aunt of anyone of negligence, but small kids like this really have to be looked after. You can't for one minute take your eyes off them. As an aunt I know how fast they can take off on their own simply because they want to.
